Traditional Weaving x Traditional Dyeing

Adan's Kaya Shawl was born from a collaboration of two regions in Japan known for their World Heritage Sites, Nara and the island of Amami Oshima. Woven using traditional Japanese methods in Nara, this shawl is ultra soft and durable. The fibers are carefully hand-dyed in Amami Oshima using a 100% natural technique of plant and mud dyeing.

The name Adan is a beautiful tropical tree that appears in a famous painting from Amami Oshima.

Maruyama Fiber Industry Co. Ltd was founded in Nara, Japan in 1930. It started as a company making traditional mosquito nets woven from cotton and hemp. Over the years the company adapted its traditional weaving technologies to produce a wide range of eco cloths for the home - from kitchen to bathroom to daily exercise spaces.  The combination of knowledge and an appetite for innovation has meant cloths and towels that are absorbent, quick-drying, stylish, remains soft and is durable.

The name Nawrap signifies both the origin of Nara and the cloth.
