Only 1 left in stock

Shikibuton (敷き布団) is the mattress that forms part of a futon set. It is used to sleep on and can easily be folded into three to store away. It will typically be placed on a tatami floor, but can also be placed directly onto a bed base.

The single size is ideal for one person to comfortably sleep on. It is handmade of 100% cotton in Kyoto using the watoji stitching technique to hold the cotton filling in place.

  • Pattern: Patterns shown below are in stock in Cape Town. For custom colours or patterns, an order can be placed. We order futons on a quarterly basis.
  • Size (single): 210cm (L) x 100cm (W) x 10cm (H)
  • Fabric: 100% Cotton
  • Filling: 100% Cotton

Please note: Colour Combo 1 is the shop demo. It is unused, but opened, therefore discounted by 10%.

  • The actual colour might vary slightly from the image
  • Futon mattresses are hand-filled with 100% pure cotton.
  • The cover has pockets on the top and bottom of the sheet to allow the mattress to be slipped in and out easily without much hassle.
  • Semi-Double and Double sizes have elastic rubber backing on the corners of the cover to provide support despite the width.
  • Covers are machine washable.
  • Mattresses should be aired regularly.
