Green Glaze Teapot - 360ml

Ceramic slip cast teapot made in Tokoname, Japan. It is a yokode kyūsu (side-handle teapot) with lid and has a green glaze applied with white flowers painted on the outside and lid. The teapot is ideal for Japanese or other leaf teas and has an internal wrap-around "obi" strip steel mesh strainer for tea leaves, to ensure all loose leaves are captured when pouring.

Tokoname is the location of one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, with a ceramics history dating back to the 12th Century. Over the years it has become famous for bonsai and shōchū pots, and also its distinctive teapots, which include red clay teapots as a recognisable item from Tokoname. It is also the largest producer of maneki neko (beckoning cats) in Japan.
