TADAFUSA Hocho Kobo Bread Knife

The Tadafusa Hocho Kobo range of household knives combines a contemporary look with the traditional hand forged knife making techniques of the company. A bread knife is not a traditional Japanese knife, hence this design pioneered by Tadafusa and carefully tested right down to the number of serrations.

The blade combines SLD steel which provides a sharp cutting edge with a stainless steel coating for the body. The chestnut handle is heat treated in order to prevent shrinkage and to increase bacterial resistance.

Dimensions: 230mm blade length; 370mm total length; 1.9mm blade thickness

Tadafusa is a third generation knife making company based in Sanjō, Niigata Prefecture, a region with a long history of steel work. The Hocho Kobo range is designed by Fumie Shibata, a Japanese industrial designer who has won many awards for her designs.
