One pair of Japamo ("Japan Modern") chopsticks by Ishida. Decorated with a traditional wagara design motif, the shape of the chopsticks and design application gives them a contemporary feel.
Ishida Co., Ltd. was established in 1919 in Obama, Fukui Prefecture, as a manufacturer of wakasa nuri - traditional lacquered chopsticks using a technique developed during the Edo Period. To this day the company continues to make chopsticks using traditional techniques, but also by bringing innovation and new designs into the manufacturing process. The idea is that there must be a pair of chopsticks for everyone, and that chopsticks can become co-stars of the dining table.
