Come and enjoy Africa's first locally brewed, traditional-method sake at a tasting with WAZA and Tanuki Sake. Tanuki Sake is bringing the traditional methods of Japan to our sunny shores, trying to keep the spirit and traditions of sake brewing intact, while capturing the terroir of South Africa. In an interactive presentation, we will explore the traditional method of sake making. The founders of Tanuki Sake will share some stories about their initial trials (and tribulations!), and there will be plenty of sake to taste from their first big brew.
Sake is more like wine than a distilled spirit -- it has a floral nose, a clean palate, and a deeply umami finish -- come and taste for yourself! WAZA and Tanuki Sake are excited to share a uniquely South African journey and this delicious brew with Cape Town on First Thursdays, 1 October 2020.
To maintain responsible social distancing, we will only allow 20 guests per talk, split across two sessions: 18:00 and 19:30. Masks are compulsory and can only be removed for tasting.
