Uji Hōji Tea Latte
Make your own hōjicha latte at home, or at the office, with Uji Hōji Tea Latte. Uji is the famed region in Japan known as the birthplace of Japanese tea. The finely ground hōjicha (roasted green tea) is combined with Japanese brown sugar and glucose, to give a slight, but not too sweet taste, to compliment the roasted flavour of hōjicha. The added benefit of hōjicha is that the roasting process reduces the caffeine content in the tea, making it an ideal evening latte.
How to prepare:
- For a hot, low-caffeine, roasted green tea latte, combine 10g of hōji tea latte powder with hot milk in a cup, stir it until dissolved and drink.
- For a cold, low-caffeine, roasted green tea latte, combine 10g of hōji tea latte powder with a small amount of hot milk, stir it until it forms a paste, add cold milk, stir again and drink. A cold latte can also be made slightly thicker as a topping for ice cream,

Hōjicha is green tea that is roasted instead of steamed and has a reddish brown colour and an earthy, umami flavour. The reduction in caffeine that is a result of the roasting process makes hōjicha a popular choice with people looking for an evening or bedtime tea, or who in general want to reduce caffeine intake.
