Organic Sencha - Okumidori

JACK FARM

Only left in stock

Organic sencha green tea from Wazuka, an historic tea region outside Kyoto. The tea leaves have been cultivated without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The green tea leaves are harvested and steamed to lock in the colour and flavour. This gives it a flavourful and premium taste. Green tea is rich in anti-oxidants and very healthy if consumed daily, any time of the day. It is particularly recommended as a morning or afternoon tea.

Okumidori is a tea cultivar registered in 1974 and is known for its fresh and clean taste. It is used for high quality teas like gyokuro and matcha and this sencha is very good for an early morning fresh cup of tea.

Available as loose leaf tea (70g) in a vacuum sealed and resealable pack.

HOW TO PREPARE SENCHA:

Hot brew

  1. Add 1 heaped teaspoon (approximately 7g) of tea leaves into a 200ml teapot
  2. Pour cooled down water (70 °C) into the teapot (We recommend using water that has been filtered with Kishu binchotan, or if using tap water, let it boil for 5 minutes or more for better flavour)
  3. Cover the teapot and wait for 45 seconds
  4. Pour the tea into a tea cup and enjoy.

You can make multiple brews using the same tea leaves. Just make sure all water is removed when pouring and add more 70 °C water when ready.  Do not use boiling water for sencha. With each subsequent brew, just wait a little longer before pouring.
