Yuzu Bath Salt
Bath salt designed to recreate the experience of yuzu-yu, the traditional Japanese yuzu bath. One sachet combines yuzu essential oil from Kōchi Prefecture, with sea salt produced in the Setouchi Inland Sea, and added organic argan oil for skin comfort.
Yuzu baths have long been associated in Japan with the winter solstice (tōji), when whole yuzu fruit are floated in hot water to release their aroma and oils. The practice is valued not for fragrance alone, but for the way citrus oils and warm water are thought to support circulation and comfort during colder months. This bath salt draws on that tradition, using yuzu peel oil to provide a clean, recognisable citrus scent without added fragrance blends.
The salt used is sourced from the Setouchi region, an area known for calm seas and salt-making traditions that favour slower evaporation and a relatively mild mineral profile. In the bath, the salt helps soften the feel of the water, contributing to a gentler soaking experience rather than a sharp or drying one.
Organic argan oil is included in small quantity to help maintain skin softness during bathing. The focus remains on balance rather than richness, allowing the bath to feel restorative, without leaving residue.
Yuzu bath salt is contained in a permeable inner sachet that can be placed directly into the bath without opening. This prevents plant material from dispersing in the water and makes cleaning straightforward, while still allowing the salt and aromatic components to dissolve gradually.
All ingredients are naturally derived.
