Japanese Pickle Jar - 360ml
Traditional glazed ceramic crock made in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture - one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. The pot’s warm reddish-brown finish and rounded form reflect Tokoname’s long heritage of functional ceramics used in everyday Japanese kitchens. Its lid fits neatly to seal in freshness, and the smooth interior glaze allows for easy cleaning and odour resistance.
The 360 ml size is ideal for small-batch pickles (tsukemono), miso, condiments or preserved foods. In Japanese homes, crocks like these are also used for garlic or chilli in soy sauce, fermented sauces, or a small serving of nukazuke pickles kept at hand in the refrigerator. The clay’s gentle breathability helps balance humidity, keeping ingredients fresh and flavourful.

Known for its durable stoneware and distinctive iron-rich clay, the area became famous for its teapots, storage jars and kitchen vessels that combine practicality with understated beauty. The natural minerals in Tokoname clay contribute to its warm reddish hue and subtle variations in tone, making each piece unique.
