Mugicha (Cold Brew Barley Tea)

Chaya Suzuwa

Only left in stock

Mugicha is the classic Japanese summer ice tea and is delicious cold brewed with ice. It has a coffee-like flavour, but with no caffeine and is therefore good for children and safe to drink any time of the day.

  • Contents: Barley tea
  • Type: Tea bags 10g x 20 packets (each bags makes 1 liter of tea)

The bag illustration is by one of the students at the Wonderful Art Community (waC) in Shizuoka Prefecture. waC is a group of special needs school graduates aged 19 to 25, who are encouraged to make beautiful and colourful art in their own style.

This barley tea blend is specifically formulated to work well as a cold brew tea.

  1. Place 1 tea bag in an empty container with a capacity of at least 1 litre.
  2. Pour 1 litre of cold water into the container (We recommended using water that has been filtered with Kishu binchotan).
  3. Place in a refrigerator and wait for 3-4 hours.
  4. Stir the tea gently and serve, or decant into your favourite flask. If serving from the container, the tea bag can be left inside for up to 8 hours to brew.
    Enjoy your barley ice tea!
