Sake Cup by Maruyama Rakuun
Small sake cup by Maruyama Rakuun (丸山 楽雲), a Nagano-based seal carver and calligraphy artist, born in 1948 and active since the late 20th century. Rakuun is known primarily for his work in tenkoku - the carving of personal seals - where balance, character form and inscription are central.
Ceramic vessels by Rakuun are quite rare, as he is more associated with seal carving. The cup is modest in scale, with a soft, pale glaze and simple form, and comes in a wooden box with his seal and information.
