AKARI Light Sculpture - 30A - Pendant
AKARI Light Sculpture, designed by Isamu Noguchi and manufactured in Japan by Ozeki & Co. The AKARI range is an iconic range of standing and hanging paper lanterns, made since 1951 according to traditional Gifu lantern making techniques. Hand made using mulberry bark washi paper and bamboo ribbing, the designs are sculptural with often surprising angles. Each lantern is made on a wooden mould which is removed from the inside to leave the lantern shape. When lit, they emit a soft light to add sophistication to any setting.
According to the Noguchi Foundation in New York, Noguchi was fond of saying: "All that you require to start a home are a room, a tatami, and Akari."
- Model: 30A
- Dimensions: 28cm (W) x 30cm (H)

This is an official product bought in Japan. WAZA sources them direct from the official Japanese distributor, which does not allow specific models to be reserved, given global demand. The light sculptures are therefore sourced based on availability on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Please note: For pendants, the electrical cord and bulb fitting are not included. Hanging light sculptures need a standard cord with bulb socket. A 40W bulb equivalent is recommended.
