Onigiri Mould

This compact wooden mould offers a simple, efficient way to shape perfectly sized onigiri. Made from Japanese hinoki - a lightweight, fragrant cypress prized for its smooth finish and natural resistance to moisture - it allows you to form three uniform rice triangles at a time.

Each cavity holds roughly 75g of cooked rice, making it ideal for everyday bentō, or batch-making at home. The flat lid helps you press the rice evenly so the onigiri hold their shape without becoming dense. Mixed-rice variations such as gomoku gohan or shiso rice also form neatly, helping you create colourful, well-shaped pieces with minimal effort.

Care Instructions

• Rinse with lukewarm water after use, wipe dry and allow to air-dry completely in the shade.
• Store in a cool place.
• As with all untreated wood, a small amount of natural resin (yani) may occasionally appear, especially when exposed to high temperatures. This is harmless and can be wiped away.
