Only left in stock

Organic sencha green tea from Wazuka, an historic tea region outside Kyoto. The tea leaves have been cultivated without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilisers, and are harvested and steamed soon after picking, to lock in their vivid green colour and refreshing taste. The result is a clean, well-balanced sencha that captures the bright flavour of Japan’s most familiar tea style.

The cultivar used is Yabukita - the benchmark of Japanese green tea, prized for its strong aroma, crisp sweetness and mild astringency. Registered in 1953, Yabukita accounts for nearly three-quarters of Japan’s tea fields. In this small-batch production, it reveals its best character: a gentle fragrance of steamed greens and a lasting, clean and fresh finish. Jack Farm emphasises that by not separating the buds and stems in this sencha, you enjoy a tea rich in natural flavour, including the natural astringency inherent to the tea plant.

This green tea is rich in antioxidants and suitable for daily enjoyment - perfect as a morning or afternoon tea.

Package size: 70g

How to prepare

  • Add 1 heaped teaspoon (approx. 7 g) of tea leaves into a 200 ml teapot
  • Pour cooled water at 70 °C (boiled then cooled for several minutes)
  • Cover and steep for 45 seconds
  • Pour evenly into cups and enjoy

You can brew the same leaves multiple times, slightly extending the steeping time for each infusion. Avoid using boiling water to preserve the delicate sweetness.

Jack Farm Tea is the tea farm of Jack (Pathomthat Thongchim) and Natsuki Goto - a formidable team of two who grow, harvest, make and market their own range of teas and rice. They are part of a new generation of passionate tea farmers who are very necessary to continue tea production in rural areas with aging populations. Wazuka town is a famous tea town situated close to Ujitawara and about 20km from Nara. It has a tea history of over 800 years. The Jack Farm focus is on using organic production methods to make their main ranges of sencha, houjicha, genmaicha and Japanese black tea.
