Only left in stock

A Japanese side-handle teapot (yokote kyusu) with a rounded form and soft, semi-matte glaze. The Yui range of teapots by SALIU is based on a classic design, with contemporary features.

結 - The Ties That Bind

The name 結 (yui) means to bind or connect, and the series is conceived around "a time of hospitality that connects people to people." This is a teapot for everyday use and sharing tea with others.

The Yui range is produced in Gifu Prefecture, in the Mino region that has been a centre of Japanese ceramic production for over 1,300 years. Mino ware (美濃焼, Minoyaki) is the most widely produced ceramic tradition in Japan today, encompassing a wide range of glazes and forms. The Yui series draws on this deep materials knowledge, realised in clean-fired porcelain with a glaze palette rooted in classical Japanese colour names.

Specifications

Colours available:

  • Shiro (白 - white): A soft, milky off-white
  • Hai (灰 -  grey): A quiet, neutral light grey
  • Asagi (浅葱 - mint): A traditional Japanese colour name - the pale blue-green of young leek shoots, rendered here as a cool, soft mint
  • Sumi (墨 - ink): A deep ink black with a fine crystalline surface pattern

The spout is shaped for a clean, decisive cut to ensure it does not dribble. The removable stainless steel strainer uses a punched (perforated) construction that handles fine tea leaves without clogging, and includes a small handle for easy removal and cleaning.

  • Dimensions: W125 × D165 × H98 mm
  • Full capacity: 330ml | Practical capacity: approx. 260ml
  • Body: Porcelain
  • Strainer: Punched stainless steel, removable with handle
  • Origin: Made in Japan - Mino, Gifu Prefecture
  • Packaging: Individual box

Care Instructions

Hand wash with mild detergent; rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use in a microwave, oven, or dishwasher. Avoid sudden temperature changes - pre-warm the pot with a little hot water before brewing. Store with the lid slightly ajar to allow ventilation. As a hand-finished ceramic, minor variations in glaze colour and surface texture are natural and expected.

SALIU is a design-led lifestyle brand created by LOLO Co., Ltd., based in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture - the historic heartland of Minoyaki, Japan's most widely produced ceramic tradition with a documented history stretching back more than 1,300 years. The brand name is drawn from saryu (茶流), meaning "the spirit of tea," and extends this ethos across a range of tableware and everyday objects developed in close collaboration with local kilns and craftspeople. Since its founding in 2008, SALIU has worked within the living tradition of Mino ceramic craftsmanship - combining skills inherited through generations with contemporary design - to make objects that enrich daily life without demanding ceremony.
